Your documents — what happens to them?
Nothing leaves your device.
Both Working Document Helper and Template Helper process your document entirely within Microsoft Word, running on your own computer. The add-in reads your document's formatting or placeholder fields, performs its calculations locally, and writes results back — all without sending any document content to any server.
Does SimpleAddins use AI to read my documents?
No. Our add-ins do not use AI or machine learning at any point. Working Document Helper uses rule-based logic to map text formatting to colours. Template Helper uses pattern matching to find bracketed fields. No AI service ever sees your document.
What data does SimpleAddins collect at all?
The add-ins themselves collect no document content. When you visit simpleaddins.com (this website), we use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they view. This is standard anonymised web analytics — it does not include any document content.
If you purchase a Pro subscription, your name, email address, and payment details are collected by Stripe (our payment processor) and Microsoft AppSource (for licence management). We do not store your payment card details ourselves.
Is this suitable for sensitive SEND / legal documents?
Yes. Because document content never leaves your device, using these add-ins does not create any data transfer risk for confidential documents. You should still comply with your organisation's own data handling policies, but the add-in itself introduces no external data exposure.
