Word document automation without cloud upload
Automate the Word documents you already have — fill templates, colour-code changes — without sending a single file to the cloud. Everything runs locally, inside Word.
Local document processing · No AI · Microsoft AppSource
Most document automation asks you to upload first
The usual model is: move your templates into a cloud platform, let it process your content on a server, and generate documents from there. For legal, SEND, HR and public-sector work, that upload step is often the whole problem — it creates a data-processing relationship, a new place your confidential content lives, and a procurement conversation before anyone can even try it.
SimpleAddins takes the opposite approach. The automation happens where the document already is: inside Microsoft Word, on your device.
How it stays local
Runs inside Word
Both add-ins are Office.js task panes. They act on the open document, on your device, when you click a button — there is no separate portal to upload to.
No document store
We keep no repository of customer documents. Your files never arrive, so there is nothing on our side to breach or subpoena.
No AI processing
Deterministic, rule-based logic — no model reads, summarises or is trained on your content. Nothing is sent to an AI service.
Processed on your device
Reading the document · finding placeholder fields · filling fields · resolving conditional clauses · applying the colour key
Sent to our service providers
Licence and subscription checks · payment (Stripe) · account name and email · website analytics

Two local Word tools
Template Helper
Turn the [placeholder] fields in your existing Word templates into a fill-in form, then write every answer back — all locally. Document assembly and conditional clauses without a cloud platform.
Working Document Helper
Colour-code a SEND tribunal working document to the standard key in one click, reading the formatting already in the file — with no EHC plan ever leaving your device.
Both run on Word with Microsoft 365 on Windows, Mac and the web — see compatibility. Free to install, with Pro features for heavy use.
Questions about the no-upload approach
Does the add-in upload my document to the cloud?
No. The document is read, filled and colour-coded inside your own copy of Microsoft Word, on your device. It is not sent to us or to any third party to perform the automation.
So it works completely offline?
The document automation itself does not depend on our servers. The add-ins do make network requests for licensing, account and website analytics, and Office add-ins load their interface over the web, so a connection is needed to start. But the contents of your document are not part of that traffic.
Why does Microsoft Marketplace say the add-in can send data over the Internet?
That flag covers licensing, account and analytics traffic. Microsoft applies it to any add-in that makes a network request at all, so it cannot distinguish between checking a subscription and uploading a file. Your document content is never uploaded.
Is this suitable for confidential or regulated documents?
Because document content stays on your device, using the add-ins does not create a new data-transfer path for the document itself. Many users work with legal, SEND and other confidential material for exactly this reason. Your own organisation’s IT policies still apply.
Automate your documents without giving them up
Both add-ins are free to install from Microsoft AppSource and work with the Word documents you already have.
